Operation New Hope workbooks will equip trauma informed youth to live a healthy lifestyle.
Training prepares & certifies case managers, mentors, school counselors, teachers, probation officers, community outreach educators, and other program providers to effectively implement the state of the art prevention & intervention education activities & lesson plans found in our trauma informed life skills workbooks.
What is the basis of the program? Based on the premise that behavior is a symptom of unrecognized, therefore, unsolved problems. Once identified, they can be “treated” by understanding positive vs. negative decisions, creating awareness of toxic relationships and developing self-trust. It is not about fixing people, it’s about teaching people to fix themselves with conscious, informed choices.
What is the goal? The aim of the program is to help facilitators produce a more confident, self-accepting, person who will make positive life choices. It focuses on success rather than failure and dealing with building a future rather than being victimized by the past. Continued personal growth is the ultimate goal of ONH.
Who can benefit from Operation New Hope? The target individual are those experiencing or experienced trauma, or life is unmanageable. The steps in this program can help a person identify problems, accept responsibility for negative behavior and build positive habits for life long change.
How is the program conducted? The program is conducted in groups, which foster support and encourages communication skills. Sharing problems can diffuse feelings of alienation that may be caused by class, race or ethnicity. Following each session, participants complete journal questions to self reflect; emotions, incidents, successes, pitfalls etc. self awareness.
How long is the program? The program has 4 workbooks that are divided into 12 modules, which can be tailored to suit group needs. Workshops may be conducted in 12 one hour weekly sessions; others may choose to shorten the program and double the session time. The workbook begins with defining problems, takes the participant through belief changes and concludes with lifestyle skills such as self-acceptance forgiveness, making amends, and stress reduction.
